US: The House approved the funding for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan

The US House of Representatives has today approved the funding for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan.

This means that Ukraine will get 60,8 billion dollars funding to fight for its independence, Israel will get 26 billion dollars and Indo- Pacific, including Taiwan 8 billion dollars.

The vote on passage for Ukraine funding was 211-112 and 112 Republicans opposed the legislation with only 101 in support, Reuters reported.

The new package will be sent to Senate next week.

UK Rishi Sunak and EU Leyen spoke on Sunday

The UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak spoke to European Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen, on Sunday afternoon.

– Ahead of the second anniversary of Putin’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, they underscored the importance of providing continuing support to the Ukrainian people. The Prime Minister welcomed the recent announcement that the EU will provide 50 billion euros support to Ukraine, and outlined the work the UK is doing through the security cooperation agreement, the PM Cabinet stated.

According to the release, the Prime Minister Sunak and President Von der Leyen expressed their outrage at the death of Alexei Navalny, and underscored the utmost importance of holding those responsible within the Russian system to account.

During the Munich Security Conference this weekend in Germany, Ukraine signed two major defence agreements with Germany and France for long-standing defence aid.

The US President Joe Biden has urged the House to proceed with the latest aid package without delay.

US Harris: President Biden and I stand with Ukraine

G20 meeting in New Delhi agreed to increase renewable energy

The G20 meeting in New Delhi, India, during the weekend, agreed to increase the capacity of renewable energy. According to the summit, the nations agreed tripling the capacity by 2030.

The summit said the estimate is that the green transition would require 4 trillion dollars per year to achieve the targets.

The G20 also invited the African Union as a permanent member. Russia, Ukraine and Turkey will continue to negotiate the grain deal in Black Sea, the group said.

The Prime Minister of Japan Kisida said in his statement that he would emphasize the use of the WTO, World Trade Organization, as rule-based, free and fair trading body in the global economic uncertainty negotiations. He reminded also of the G7 summit declaration in Japan to reduce the ocean plastic pollution to zero by 2040.

Wall Street closed down – Nordstrom up

Wall Street closed down on Wednesday trading. Dow Jones closed down 0,41% to 32.908 points, S&P 500 index closed down 0,61% to 4179 points and Nasdaq lost 0,63% to 12.935 points.

The US debt ceiling voting cleared its way to the final voting late on Wednesday evening in the Congress. The US also confirmed a new security assistance package to Ukraine. So far the value of these aid packages has been 38 billion dollars since the invasion in Feb 2022.

The software company Salesforce reported better than expected earnings and its share traded down 4% in the late trading. The premium shopping center Nordstrom also reported better than expected earnings and stock was trading up 9%.

In Europe, Dax closed down 1,54% to 15.664 points, FTSE 100 closed down 1,01% to 7446 points and CAC40 index lost 1,54% to 7098 points.

In Asia, Hang Seng lost 1,94% to 18.234 points in Hong Kong and in Japan, Topix index lost 1,32% to 2130 points.

UK Sunak: UK extends Ukraine military training to pilots and marines

The UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said today that UK will extend its Ukraine military training to pilots and marines. It was part of the meeting with President Zelenskiy in London today.

According to the press release this training is also part of the long-term commitment to help Ukraine. The training will ensure the pilots are able to fly Nato-standard fighters in the future. It is estimated that by the end of this year totally 20.000 soldiers from Ukraine has been trained in the UK.

-I am proud that today we will expand that training from soldiers to marines and fighter-jets pilots, ensuring Ukraine has a military able to defend its interest well into the future, the PM Sunak said.
